Road traffic of all kinds - cars, trucks, mopeds, buses, auto and bicycle rickshaws, carts, and pedestrians - clogs a busy street during rush hour in Cuttack, India. Cuttack is the former capital and the second largest city in the state of Odisha, India. Also known as the 'Millennium City' or the 'Silver City', it is the headquarters of Cuttack district and is located about 28 km to the north east of Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. It is the judicial capital of Odisha as the Orissa High Court is located here. It is also the commercial capital of Odisha with a very large number of trading and business houses in and around the city. The name of the city is an anglicised form of Katak that literally means The Fort, a reference to the ancient Barabati Fort around which the city developed....

Facebook https://www.facebook.com/migrationology | And check out my website http://migrationology.com/ for lots more Indian street food! Few things are more beautifully displayed on the streets of Kolkata, India, than a dish known as Ghugni Chaat. It's bright yellow sculpture of yellow peas that sit on a podium while slowly simmering for hour upon hour. If the bright yellowness doesn't catch you attention, the bright red tomatoes, chilies, and cilantro will surely demand your attention. The ghugni chaat is easy to order, you simply put of your finger and ask for a portion. The vendor then proceeds to grab a leaf bowl, put in a big spoon of piping hot yellow peas, slash in a squeeze of lime, mix some fresh onions, tomatoes and cilantro in, and add salt and chili powder for even more flav...
Orissa province, known as Kalinga in ancient times, was commanding a very high position in the maritime activities of India in the past. Brave and adventurous Kalinga sailors were making daring voyages to different far-off lands of the world and had maritime contacts with Roman Empire, Africa, Persian coast, Arabian countries in the West and China, Japan, Siam, Champa, Burma, Ceylon etc. Some socio-religious festivals prevalent in coastal Orissa also provide vital information about Kalinga’s glorious maritime heritage. Festival of Baliyatra on Kartika Purnima (full-moon day of the month Kartika ie. Oct-Nov) is one of them on which ‘Boita Bandana’ (ceremonial send off to the merchants sailing in boats) festival is observed throughout Orissa.
Shot while we were traveling to see the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, India. We had to land in Biju Patnaik International Airport situated in Bhubaneswar. Bhubaneswar became the capital of Odisha in 1948, replacing Cuttack. Sometimes spelt Bhubaneshwar, it is one of the fastest developing cities in India, and is 40 miles away from Konark Sun Temple. If you negotiate, you can get a taxi to Konark from the airport for 1000 Indian rupees. Bhubaneswar airport is small with very few gates, although new terminals are being constructed in full swing. After construction, the airport will have modern features such as spa, VIP lounges, gift shops, kiosks and modern seating areas.
